Ministry of Municipal Affairs offering training on Local Authorities Election Act

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs has partnered with Elections Alberta to offer election training for local authorities through a series of live webinars. This training is targeted at returning officers and other administrators involved in elections, and is comprised of modules that follow the Local Authorities Election Act. Resources and information that coincide with the stages of the election cycle will accompany each module.

At the conclusion of all 10 modules, local authorities will have a complete guide for municipal returning officers in Alberta to support the successful completion of the 2021 general election. These sessions will also provide information on potential senate nominee election and referendum votes.

Modules 1 and 2 have already occurred and video recordings of those sessions can be viewed here. The presentations by Elections Alberta that occurred during modules 1 and 2 are available here.

Modules 3 and 4 will be offered twice through live webinar (details below). Given the volume of attendees, please only attend one session of each module. Supporting materials will be sent out prior to each session.

Video recordings of sessions will also be made available on the Municipal Elections Overview page after the presentations occur.
