Inspiration for your application to the Universal Broadband Fund

The deadline for the Universal Broadband Fund’s (UBF) Rapid Response Stream is Friday, January 15, 2021. However, there is a bit more time to get in applications for the regular project stream, which are being accepted by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) until February 15, 2021.

ISED recently announced the first project approved under the UBF, which is right here in Alberta. Thanks to $1 million in funding, a service provider will bring high-speed Internet access to 7,179 underserved households in Starland County and Stettler County.

Looking for further inspiration for your UBF application? In 2020, the Town of Vermilion launched the V-NET pilot project, providing high-speed internet service to Vermilion businesses using brand new access point technology. Visit the V-net site to find out more.

More information about applying to the UBF can be found in a detailed application guide available online, or you can connect directly with the dedicated UBF team at ISED by telephone at 1-800-328-6189 or email at get-connected [at] canada.ca (get-connected[at]canada[dot]ca).
