Apply for funding to bring broadband to your community
To coincide with the launch of the eagerly anticipated Universal Broadband Fund (UBF), Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada also announced that funding for the program would be increased by $750 million to bring the total amount of funding to $1.75 billion
The UBF has been designed to fund broadband infrastructure projects that will bring high-speed Internet at 50/10 Megabits per second (Mbps) to rural and remote communities. The maximum amount of funding that an applicant can request for a broadband project is up to 75 per cent of the total eligible costs, or up to 90 per cent of the total eligible costs for projects targeting very remote areas, satellite-dependent and/or Indigenous communities.
Applicants are able to use funding from other grant programs to cover portions of projects not funded by the UBF, up to 100 per cent of project costs. AUMA is also able to share that there is a preference from the department for regional projects, so reach out to neighbouring communities when considering an application to increase your chances for success.
