The System Administrator reports directly to the Director of Corporate Services and is responsible for supporting the Town’s IT infrastructure, in addition to improving the overall risk management process, implementation, and continual improvement of IT project systems. This position is responsible for providing expert Information Technology (IT) system support services across the organization. The successful incumbent will assist with IT project management, resource management, hardware installation and maintenance, troubleshooting, and communicating with all users within the administration regarding technology infrastructure. The System Administrator may also be required to assist with IT strategic planning, as well as identifying, selecting, and deploying new technology to support overall organizational goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Technical Diploma, or other related educational credentials in Computer Science or an associated discipline.
  • Related work experience in a client service and support environment installing and troubleshooting hardware and software is required.

And be able to demonstrate the following characteristics:

  • Must be self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Customer service orientated and a helpful attitude.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language for non-technical staff.
  • Results oriented and efficient with excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality and discretion
