Job Description

The Town of Didsbury is currently accepting applications for a permanent, full-time Fire Chief.  In this exciting opportunity, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Didsbury Fire Department, managerial oversight of the Community Peace Officers and leadership over the Town’s disaster preparedness. This position is a member of the Leadership Team and reports to the Director of Corporate Services.

This opportunity is best suited to those who have a strong devotion to public service, are team oriented, self-motivated, innovative and results driven, and able to work without a lot of supervision.

Required

  • Meet NFPA standards for Firefighter Professional, NFPA 1001 Level II and NFPA 1002
  • NFPA 1051 Level I
  • Minimum Class 3 driver’s license with Q-Endorsement, with clean abstract
  • H2S Alive Certification
  • Certified in ICS 200
  • Standard First Aid and CPR BLS
  • Fire Group “A” Safety Codes program
  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive fire service experience
  • Minimum of five years’ in a leadership capacity

Desired

  • Certified in ICS 300 and ICS 400
  • NFPA 1041 Level II
  • Fire Group “B1” Safety Codes program 
  • Certified in Blue Card Incident Command
  • Experience working with volunteer fire departments
  • Experience in rural firefighting
