One (1) Permanent Full Time Position

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking a confident, proactive, results orientated professional to join our Engineering Team. Reporting to the Director, Fleet, Facilities and Engineering the Manager, Engineering leads a team of Engineering Coordinators, Technologists, and Students to provide Engineering Services for the City. The Manager will be responsible for negotiating with Developers in the preparation of Development Agreements, managing and assigning capital projects, assisting in the development of the 10 year capital plan, developing the business unit’s operating budget, providing advice and assistance to City departments and assigning workloads to staff within the Engineering business unit. The Manager promotes the City’s commitment to diversity, inclusions and Truth and Reconciliation within the department, organization and community.

The Manager is responsible for the timely and effective delivery of service to both internal and external customers, for ensuring that appropriate resources are allocated to the section, for managing the section’s financial budget effectively and determine contractor resources required for both operational and capital projects.

The Manager reviews options, assesses risks, provides advice, and makes recommendations; integrates the human, equipment, material, budget, and contractor resources required for operational projects, capital projects, and maintenance projects. The Manager will supervise the timely and effective delivery of operation services and maintain assess and recommend service levels in the operations of this Business Unit.

The successful candidate will have a diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology. Membership in, or be eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) is required. This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in an Engineering or Project Management role. The successful candidate will have supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor and coach staff. This position requires a high degree of computer literacy including extensive experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft office tools such as Microsoft Project, Access, Excel and Word. The ability to communicate constructively in a positive, confident and respectful manner (written and oral) to internal and external stakeholders is essential.

Hours of Work: 37.5 per week; Monday to Friday

The City of Fort Saskatchewan offers a competitive compensation package with a current salary range of $ $106,450 to $125,229.
