General Manager of Public Works
The County of Vermilion River is seeking an innovative and adaptable individual to join their leadership team as the General Manager of Public Works. The ideal candidate will be passionate about public service delivery and have the confidence to lead a team to develop, advance, and achieve the County of Vermilion River strategic priorities.
Ideal candidates will:
- Have a combination of education and experience in municipal government, with a focus on operational areas including transportation and infrastructure, roadway construction and maintenance, water and wastewater utility service provision, facilities and safety
- Demonstrate exceptional leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
- Embrace challenges with confidence and draw on team abilities to excel
- Be familiar with municipal operational areas such as Council and intergovernmental relations, public engagement, and environmental stewardship
- Experience with budgets and project management
- Be adept at solving complex problems/challenges while balancing resource capacities with municipal needs
- Have the proven ability to build a unified team and provide support to ensure delivery of exceptional public service that aligns with Council priorities
- Demonstrate the ability to develop and mentor staff in a way that aligns with goal-based performance benchmarks

The County of Vermilion River is a rural municipality in east-central Alberta. It offers the opportunity for rural or urban living and access to a full range of services located in the County and the adjacent City of Lloydminster and Town of Vermilion.
