It’s time to talk about social supports

  • It’s well known that mental health challenges and addictions cause homelessness, and combined they are a major contributor to criminal activity.

  • The pandemic has exacerbated the mental health challenges of large portions of our population.

  • The lack of funding for affordable housing programs by the provincial government has further complicated the issue.

  • Our poll showed that 66% of Albertans feel crime would be reduced if more were invested in supports for people suffering from mental health issues, addiction, homelessness, and poverty.
