It’s time to talk about our justice system

  • Communities are seeing staffing shortages & cutbacks, resulting in delays to hearings which affects witnesses, victims, and accused.

  • Hearings are being centralized in Edmonton & Calgary making it difficult for witnesses & victims to attend hearings, which in turn causes postponements and delays, driving up costs.

  • Without the proper mental health & addiction supports, people are being released back into the same situations and re-offending.

  • A poll conducted in January for ABmunis by Janet Brown Opinion Research showed 65% of Albertans believe that investing more in our justice system will stop the revolving-door of repeat offenders.

  • Our poll showed that Albertans would rather see funds applied to improving the justice system rather than creating a provincial police service.
