ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES INSPECTOR

Full Time – Monday to Friday 40.5 hrs/week

Wage Range - $35.56 - $42.47 per hour

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

The Environmental Services Inspector is responsible for administering inspection, compliance, and enforcement programs related to the Town’s water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. The position focuses on source control, development inspections, environmental protection, and enforcement of municipal bylaws to protect infrastructure, ensure regulatory compliance, and reduce environmental risk

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts inspections, investigations, and enforcement activities to ensure compliance with municipal bylaws, policies, and applicable legislation.
  • Supports environmental protection and stormwater management initiatives.
  • Protects the municipal water and wastewater systems through inspection and monitoring activities.
  • Maintains records, data, and documentation related to inspections and compliance activities.
  • Provides customer service and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensures compliance with municipal bylaws, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Reports risks and issues to the Manager.

TRAINING, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of Grade 12 / GED or equivalent
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in municipal operations, environmental compliance, inspections, or related field
  • Ability to interpret drawings, plans and technical documents as they relate to water, wastewater and stormwater systems
  • Post-secondary education in Water and Wastewater, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Bylaw Enforcement or related discipline is considered an asset
  • Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (AEPA) certification in Wastewater Collection is considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 3 with Q endorsement considered an asset)
  • Standard First Aid “C” Intermediate (if required)
  • RCMP Based Criminal Record (or Vulnerable Sector Check) as deemed acceptable by The Town

To be successful in this role, candidates will need to be detail oriented, safety minded with proven customer service abilities and a positive team oriented attitude. This position will work both in the office and outdoors in varying weather conditions and fit for some labourous duties (able to lift up to 50lbs).
